2874 moves again - but not under its own steam

On Wednesday 15th January 2014 the first step in the restoration of GW 2-8-0 Number 2874 was taken when the loco moved from our storage area to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway site at Toddington.

This blog will follow the restoration......

  1. How long do you think her restoration will take?

  2. Twenty Nine Years. Well, that's how long it took to restore 2807 and she arrived in a slightly better state! However, Toddington is rather better equipped to deal with restoring locomotives and rolling stock these days than it was when 2807 arrived on that June day in 1981, so I guess a decade would be nearer the mark. However, having seen the blog by the owners and restorers of 2-8-0T No 4253 at the KESR (another ex-Blaenavon resident) restoration can be amazingly rapid. Good fund-raising helps of course. It is wonderful to see another of these Churchward 2-8-0s on the GWSR.
